- Tap to select the app you intend to use.
- Select the video you want your Chromecast to play.
- Choose the ‘Cast’ option from any of your mobile devices or laptop. The location of the ‘Cast’ button depends on the device you use.
- If you have a number of Chromecast devices, select the one you want to use
- Use your mobile device as your remote control. It can stop and play, pause or perform any other functions a remote control performs.
The video playback on your Chromecast is on the same level with hardware such as:
- Smart TVs
- 3 Roku
It plays on these as smoothly as it plays on Chromecast. However, the same does not apply for videos played from a Chromebook or a Mac laptop. This is because you do not simply send the videos to the device as you would with your smartphone or tablet.
Connecting Chromecast to a New Wi-Fi without Google Home App
With a new Wi-Fi network, you can still connect your Chromecast without the Google Home App. Your TV will instruct you to turn on your Google Home App to connect to a Wi-Fi. If you are not willing to take this option, here’s what you do:
Reset to Factory Settings
This resets your Chromecast device to default settings. Unfortunately, this deletes all your data and cannot be reversed. If you must take this option, then here is how you reset to factory settings:
How to Reset from the Chromecast Device
- Ensure that the Chromecast is plugged into the television set
- Hold the button on the Chromecast down either:
1) For twenty-five seconds or
2) Until the solid red LED light becomes a flashing red light
- The LED light will then start to blink white and the TV screen will go blank. Once this happens, release the button.
- The device will then begin to reboot.
